Vikki Maddox Equine Nurse - RVN
Vikki joined the team at Western Counties in January 2013 as a Saturday groom as well as coming in on odd weekdays for work experience whilst completing an animal care course. Since then she has taken on her veterinary nurse training which she has now completed and is a qualified equine nurse. Vikki's favourite aspect of nursing is the practical day to day care of the horses whilst in the hospital.
Outside of work Vikki has many equestrian interests including supporting her family's successful national hunt horses alongside competing her ex-racehorse at BD events and managing a new national hunt foal born at home in 2022
Our purpose built hospital, opened in November 2002, nestles on the edge of the Blackdown Hills in a peaceful, tranquil environment yet is easily accessible being only 10 minutes drive from Junctions 26 and 27 of the M5. Servicing the counties of Devon and Somerset, it is a facility second to none in the Westcountry and since opening we have invested in a continued program of development and improvements. This culminated in October 2009 with the award of RCVS Equine Hospital status, the highest level of accreditation available, reflecting the high level of veterinary expertise, nursing care and facilities available.
