RADIOGRAPHY (X-RAYS)
Radiographs (X-rays) are a vital tool for our team, they provide a huge range of information on bone and joint damage, including evidence of osteo-arthritis and acute bone fractures.
We have a state of the art digital radiography system alongside our fixed radiograph machine. With these systems, we can obtain the most accurate, detailed radiographic images available to date. It also means we can very easily share radiograph images with owners, referring veterinary surgeons and farriers.
Some radiographs, such as foot balance series, can be taken with our digital machine at your yard. We also use the digital radiograph machine if we suspect a fracture of any kind. For routine radiography, we recommend that it is performed at the hospital to ensure the best image quality.
Our purpose built hospital, opened in November 2002, nestles on the edge of the Blackdown Hills in a peaceful, tranquil environment yet is easily accessible being only 10 minutes drive from Junctions 26 and 27 of the M5. Servicing the counties of Devon and Somerset, it is a facility second to none in the Westcountry and since opening we have invested in a continued program of development and improvements. This culminated in October 2009 with the award of RCVS Equine Hospital status, the highest level of accreditation available, reflecting the high level of veterinary expertise, nursing care and facilities available.
